Kolkata Knight Riders VS Rajasthan Royals
Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Rajasthan Royals by 37 runs in the 12th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). In the ongoing IPL 2020, Kolkata Knight Riders recorded its second victory while Rajasthan Royals suffered its first defeat.
Chasing a winning target of 175 for victory, Rajasthan scored 137 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Rajasthan all-rounder Tom Karan remained unbeaten on 54 off 36 balls with two fours and three sixes, but a single effort was not enough for the team to win. Only three players from Rajasthan managed to score double figures. Eight players failed to score in double digits.
In the last ball of the second over of Pat Cummins, captain Steve Smith was caught by wicketkeeper Dinesh Kartik for 3 runs. In the first ball of the fifth over, Sanju Samson was caught by Shivam Mabhi off Sunil Narayan for 8 runs. Wicketkeeper Jas Butler was caught for 21 in the first ball of the seventh over.
Butler was caught by Mavi for 21 off 16 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes by Barun Chakraborty. Robin Uthappa was dismissed for two in the first ball of the eighth over. Uthappa was caught out by Mabhi by Kamlesh Nagarkoti. After two balls, Ryan Parag was caught out by Subhaman Gill for one run and Rajasthan Royals was in a weak position of 42-5.
Even the lower order batsmen could not freeze at the crease for long. In the fifth ball of the 11th over, Barun bowled Rahul Tewatia for 14 runs. Shreyas Gopal Narayan was caught for five in the fifth ball of the 14th over. In the fourth ball of the 15th over, Joffre Archer was caught out by Barun for 6 runs from Nagarkot. Jaydev Unadkat was caught out for 9 runs. Ankit Rajput remained unbeaten on 7 runs.
Barun Chakraborty took 2 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs. Shivam Mabhi took 2 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs. Kamlesh Nagarkoti took 2 wickets for 13 runs in 2 overs. Pat Cummins, Kuldeep Yadav, and Sunil Narayan took one wicket each.
Earlier, after losing the toss at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 175 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Owen Morgan remained unbeaten on 34 off 23 balls with one four and two sixes to put Kolkata in a strong position. Kamlesh Nagarkoti remained unbeaten on 8 off 5 balls with one four.
Opener Sunil Narayan was bowled out for 15 by Jaydev Unadkat in the fifth ball of the fifth over to give Rajasthan their first victory. He was bowled out after missing a big shot. Narayan hit 2 fours and 1 six in 14 balls.
Nitesh Rana, who played a big shot in the last ball of spinner Rahul Tewatia’s 10th over, was caught out for 22 by Ryan Parag in Long On. He struck two fours and one six in 17 balls.
In the first ball of the 12th over, Joffra Archer cut and bowled opener Subhaman Gill for 47 runs. Gill hit five fours and one six in 34 balls. Gill was cut and bowled out after the edge.
Captain Dinesh Kartik was run out for 1 in the first ball of the 14th over. He was caught out by wicketkeeper Jas Butler by Archer. After Andre Russell was caught for 24 in the second ball of the 15th over, Kolkata was 115-5. Russell hit three sixes off 14 balls.
Russell was caught out by Unit Rajput from Unadkat. Pat Cummins, who played a big shot in the last ball of the 18th over, was returned to the pavilion by Sanju Samson with a one-handed catch in Deep Backward Square.
Joffre Archer took 2 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs. Jaydev Unadkat took 1 wicket for 14 runs in 2 overs. Rahul Tewatia took 1 wicket for 6 runs in 1 over. Ankit Rajput took 1 wicket for 39 runs in 4 overs. Tom Karan took 1 wicket for 37 runs in 4 overs.
IPL 2020 Points
Rajasthan Royals had defeated Chennai Super Kings by 16 runs in the first match. In the second match, Kings XI Punjab lost by 4 wickets. In the fourth match, Rajasthan will play Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday. Kolkata Knight Riders had lost the first match by 49 runs to Mumbai Indians. In the second match, Sunrisers defeated Hyderabad by 7 wickets. Kolkata Knight Riders will play its fourth match against Delhi Capitals on Saturday.
