Constitution Day of Nepal 2077, Today is Constitution Day, 6th Constitution Day of Nepal. The celebration of Constitution Day starts on September 20, 2015, after the Constitution of Nepal 2015 came into effect. The first Constitution Day was celebrated on 19 September 2016.
Constitution Day of Nepal 2020
Ashoj 3rd, 2077 (September 19, 2020), the 6th Constitution Day of Nepal. The Government of Nepal has pulled out all steps to celebrated this day. Due to the pandemic of COVID-19, the government has not planned to celebrate any kind of program.
Why the Constitution day celebrated in Nepal?
Constitution of Nepal 2015 (Nepali Name: नेपालको संविधान २०७२) is the present governing Constitution of Nepal. Nepal is governed according to the Constitution which came into effect on Sept 20, 2015, replacing the Interim Constitution of 2007.
After the Constitution of 2007, the Constitution of Nepal 2015 was the first constitution passed by the Government of Nepal. So, to remember the day as the most important day of Nepal, the Government of Nepal has marked the Public Holiday of Nepal. Asoj 3rd is now celebrated as the National Festival of Nepal.
Is Constitution Day a Public Holiday?
Constitution Day is a public holiday. It is a day off for the general population, and schools and most businesses are closed.
In 2020, it falls on a Saturday, and some businesses may choose to follow Saturday opening hours.
Celebration in ‘Burj Khalifa’ Building
Today, the National Flag of Nepal will showcase the World’s Tallest Building ‘Burj Khalifa’ to make it more memorable. Like 2019 Constitution Day, on the occasion of 2020, Constitution Day of Nepal Nepali Flag will be displayed.

The government may hope that people to wear nationalistic T-shirts, sing the national anthem and celebrate Constitution Day will make the country dearer to its citizens. However, only by creating an equal and non-discriminatory society and implementing the provisions in the Constitution in their true spirit will the people feel any affection towards it and the country.
